Simon Horslen MB ChB FRCPCH is a Pediatric Hepatologist and Transplant Physician and is certified in General Pediatric and Gastroenterology by the Medical Royal Colleges in the UK. He is Director of Pediatric Hepatology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and is Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Horslen earned his medical degree at the University of Bristol Medical School in England and is a Fellow and Founder Member of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (UK). He is a Fellow of the American Society of Transplantation (AST) and of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD)
Dr. Horslen has worked in the US for over 25 years initially at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE and subsequently at Seattle Children’s, Seattle, WA as Director of Hepatology and Medical Director of Solid Organ Transplantation. Clinical and research interests include pediatric liver disease, acute liver failure, and liver and intestine transplantation. He has over 200 publications in the areas of pediatric liver disease, intestinal failure and transplantation. He has chaired the Pediatric Community of Practice of the American Society of Transplantation (AST), is a past-President of SPLIT (Society of Pediatric Liver Transplantation) and a past-President of IRTA (Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplantation Association). Dr Horslen is a senior staff member for the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients with primary responsibility for Intestine Transplantation.
